Nekacode is an app for preparing the theory test, used by driving schools and their learners. This page says which data we keep, why, for how long, and what you can ask for.

What we keep

  • Your first name, your surname and your phone number: this is what identifies you to your driving school and what lets you sign in.
  • A parent’s or a relative’s number, when your driving school has typed it in: it is used to warn them if you are absent or have an exam.
  • The name of your driving school, your package and your payments to it.
  • Your exercises: series, mock tests, classroom sessions, scores and mistakes. This is what makes the progress you see, and the follow-up your instructor sees.
  • A technical identifier for your phone, so that one activation code works on one device only.
  • A notification token, if you accept notifications.

What we do not do

  • We sell no data, to anyone.
  • We show no advertising.
  • We do not track your location.
  • We do not read your contacts, your photos or your messages.

Who sees what

  • Your driving school sees your file: your information, your payments, your results. It is the school that enrols you.
  • The Nekacode team reaches it to keep the service running and to help you out.
  • Our SMS operator receives your number and the text of the message, only in order to send it to you.
  • Our servers are hosted in the European Union.

For how long

  • As long as you are an active learner in a driving school, your file is kept.
  • After your file is archived, it is kept for 12 months — the time for a dispute, a retake or a certificate.
  • After that, your parent’s number and your contact details are erased automatically. What is left no longer identifies you.

Your rights

  • You can ask to see, to correct or to erase your data.
  • Ask your driving school first: it is the school that holds your file.
  • You can also write to us on the number below.
  • Nekacode declares this processing to the personal data protection authority (APDP) of Mali.
